Part of a loutrophoros-hydria decorated in the red-figure technique. It was found in fragments in 1957 in the Sanctuary of the Nymphe, was pieced together and restored.

It depicts the bride’s transportation to the groom’s house on a quadriga. A small winged Eros, whose presence implies the lust accompanying marital relations, offers a ribbon to the bride. Next to the horses the groom’s mother or a female deity holds torches to welcome the newlyweds and further to the front is the proegetes with a spear in his hands and a petasos thrown over his back. The spear might indicate that he has been entrusted with the safeguarding of the bedroom door during the couple’s first night. Next to him a winged female figure, symbolising the bride’s “flight” to her new life, holds an oinochoe and phiale and is about to offer a libation towards the gods. Behind her one more fragmentary female figure has survived.
